Castle Crushing Contraptions | age 5-12
Program Description
History and hands-on STEM collide in this unique class where students build, battle, and design their way through the medieval world! Using LEGO® bricks, motors, and simple coding tools, kids will explore knights, castles, catapults, and royal inventions—while applying real science, engineering, and historical thinking. From sturdy drawbridges to robotic siege machines, students blend fact with fantasy and imagination with invention—all while reinforcing K–5 TEKS in history, science, and technology. What We’ll Explore: 📚 Historical Thinking & Inquiry Students investigate castle life, transportation, royal traditions, and the cultural role of inventions and battles in the Middle Ages. ⚙️ Engineering With Purpose From fortress walls to launchers, students explore force, motion, and simple machines—levers, pulleys, wheels, and axles—used in real medieval tools. 💻 Creative Robotics & Coding Using beginner-friendly coding, kids program sensors, loops, and sequences to add motion and function to their builds while developing logic and problem-solving skills. 🎨 Design & Imagination Whether crafting a catapult or royal throne, students are encouraged to create freely within TEKS-aligned project goals. 🤝 Teamwork & Presentation Kids form alliances, collaborate, and present their builds—boosting communication, confidence, and classroom readiness.
