Creature Creator Robotics | age 4-10
Program Description
Let your young animal enthusiast dive into the world of robotics through the lens of nature! In this engaging, hands-on course, students will build and code robotic creatures inspired by animals from land, sea, and sky. Each week, learners will use LEGO® bricks and motors to bring their creations to life—while learning key STEM concepts like gear ratios, sensors, programming logic, and mechanical design. Designed especially for homeschool learners, this class blends guided instruction with room for exploration, creativity, and connection with peers. Whether it’s a snapping alligator, soaring bird, or buzzing insect, students will discover how the natural world and technology can inspire endless invention. What We’ll Explore: 🧰 Simple Machines in Action From pulleys on spider legs to wheels and axles on swimming dolphins, kids will learn how real-world mechanical systems help their robots move and function. ⚙️ Gears, Motors, and Movement We’ll take apart the “why” and “how” of gears, axles, and motors—empowering learners to think like engineers as they experiment with different configurations to achieve motion. 💻 Beginning Coding & Robotics Using an age-appropriate, drag-and-drop programming tool, students will add movement, sound, and sensor-based reactions to their animal creations. Each build is paired with a base program they’ll get to customize and expand. 🤝 Social & Collaboration Skills Working in pairs and small groups, learners will build confidence in communication and teamwork—important life skills practiced in a supportive, play-based environment. This class is perfect for learners who love animals, tinkering, and technology—and for homeschool families looking to weave STEM into their week in a fun, meaningful way. Let’s build, code, and go a little wild!
